What is Reiki / Energy Healing?
The term “reiki” comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” which means vital life force energy that flows through all living things. Some practitioners describe reiki as acupuncture without the needles.
Reiki is a complementary health approach in which practitioners place their hands on or just above different areas of the body. It’s based on an Eastern medicine belief that living beings have energy fields that support their health and vitality.
Energy healing is based on the philosophy that the body is composed of energy which must be aligned for your chakras to remain open and balanced. During an energy session, this energy is influenced by both the practitioners and the clients intentions to bring soothing energy to the body while releasing energies that no longer serve you.
Reiki has been shown to promote relaxation, stress reduction, stimulate the immune system, relieve pain and psychological distress while complementing and increasing the efficacy of other types of healing.
The receiver remains clothed while the practitioner channels the lifeforce energy through their hands, crystals and/or tuning forks to help the body bring about its own healing process and to maintain ease of the body, mind, and spirit.
The practitioner uses various hand movements to lightly touch or hover over various parts of the client’s body while they are face up and face down. Throughout the session, the practitioner focuses specifically on their intent for healing.
